As part of a year-long celebration marking PCOM Georgia‘s 20th anniversary in 2025, over 150 participants laced up for the first ever PCOM Georgia Blaze 5K on Saturday, June 28.
The certified 5K qualifier race began on Main Street in Suwanee, then took runners through local neighborhoods and Brushy Creek Greenway, finishing on the elevated path at Town Center on Main.

According to PCOM Georgia’s office of communications, the race will now be an annual event for the school and is just one of many special celebrations planned for the college’s banner year. Another big event honoring the 20th anniversary will be “A Night to Ignite Soiree” on October 24 at Gas South District.

The event also featured blood pressure checks and other wellness resources in addition to healthy snacks, PCOM Georgia swag and a visit from PCOM Georgia’s simulated ambulance. Funds raised support the Clyde and Sandra Strickland Endowed Scholarship Fund, which helps support PCOM Georgia students.
The event was organized by the Blaze 5K Committee, led by Kim Lucier, who oversees community engagement and wellness initiatives at PCOM Georgia.
The day provided a meaningful opportunity for students to connect in a healthy, fun way after Orientation Week — bringing faculty, staff and residents together for a morning of fitness, health education and community building.

About PCOM
For more than a century, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has trained highly competent, caring physicians, health practitioners and behavioral scientists who practice a “whole person” approach — treating people, not just symptoms.
At both the Pennsylvania and Georgia locations, PCOM students can choose from several degree or certificate programs and learn to approach problem solving in a more professional, team-oriented manner, which prepares them to work successfully in integrated healthcare settings with other health professionals.
PCOM’s campuses feature modern facilities and state-of-the-art technologies, all part of an innovative learning environment designed for collaboration and interaction.
PCOM Georgia
Responding to a growing need for healthcare providers in the south, PCOM established a new, state-of-the-art campus in Suwanee in 2005. Today, PCOM Georgia offers a range of health-related degree programs, enabling students to gain an education close to home with the aim of serving the health needs of their communities and the region.
Our Suwanee campus is home to a medical school, a pharmacy school and a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. We also offer graduate degrees in physician assistant studies, biomedical sciences and medical laboratory sciences.
