Pedestrian Bridge to Open Late November

Published

on

While most of the major and obvious items are complete on the Pedestrian Bridge over S.R. 141/Peachtree Parkway, there are a number of things required before the public can be allowed to use the bridge.

Final inspections are required from a number of oversight agencies, including the state and county fire marshals.

Those inspections include a litany of specific items that have to be completed, tested and certified before an all clear can be provided by the inspectors representing those agencies.

The Georgia Department of Transportation also has oversight and final inspection jurisdiction since the bridge spans over a state route and state right of way.

Also, final inspections are necessary for the construction plan elements such as lighting, electrical, etc., before the final certificate of occupancy can be issued by a Certified Building Official.

The bridge itself will have to go through a punch list inspection between the owner and the contractor, and those items must be completed before all the construction activity can be completed and the equipment and materials are removed from the construction site.

The Pedestrian Bridge is scheduled to open to the public on Nov. 18, 2020.

Please do not attempt to use the new pedestrian bridge before Wednesday, Nov. 18.
