Wesleyan School senior Andy Yang has been chosen as a
Jefferson Scholarship recipient at the University of Virginia. The program
covers the full cost of attendance for four years of undergraduate studies at
the University of Virginia, including a stipend for housing, books and
supplies, and unique enrichment program, including foreign travel, networking,
and mentoring programs. The total value of the scholarship and stipend exceeds
$340,000.
Andy, son of Allen and Meilin Yang, is president of the
Wesleyan Honor Council, captain of Wesleyan’s math and science bowl teams and a
four-year member of the cross-country and soccer teams. Outside of Wesleyan,
Andy was named to the American Math Competition’s Distinguished Honor Roll and
he helped lead his Georgia chapter of the American Regions Mathematics League
to a Division B victory in 2019.
“Not only is Andy incredibly gifted in the classroom and a member of multiple honor societies, but he also contributes to the Wesleyan community in countless ways — all while being uniquely kind and humble in his interaction with his peers,” said Ken Connor, Director of College Advising at n School.
