Eric Christ, City of Peachtree Corners Post 2 Councilmember, was selected and participated in the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute (RLI) program that was held in Savannah this Fall.
This year’s participants delved into topics including housing affordability, transit and transportation planning and recovery, public health and investments in the region’s future.
RLI is designed to bring leaders together to understand how these issues intersect and how to build a regional approach to solving them. The weeklong interactive program invites participation from the 11-county metro area to build a network of leaders interested in working across disciplines and geographical boundaries to build a stronger Atlanta region.
“This year’s participants represent a true cross-section of metro Atlanta leadership. This is valuable, as it requires true collaboration to take on our region’s complex challenges in a meaningful way,” said Doug Hooker, ARC Executive Director. “This year’s immersive, in-depth approach ensures that RLI remains a highly effective way of deepening metro Atlanta’s network of leaders and encouraging them to tackle challenges through a regional lens.”
To date over 1,500 leaders from local and state government, business, civic and non-profits have participated in the program which began in 1991. Class members are selected based on demonstrated leadership in the community.
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the official planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta Region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties as well as the City of Atlanta and 73 other cities. The Atlanta Regional Commission serves as a catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues.
