Fairy Tales are more than mesmerizing literature for the K3-Kindergarten students at Greater Atlanta Christian School. The students culminated a reading unit by delving into important life-lessons using the classics we have all grown up enjoying. Over-arching themes surround most fairy tales, and identifying fiction from non-fiction and good from evil help young minds apply concepts to everyday activities.

Students in the spirit of Fairy Tale Day

The students learned the benefits of being industrious, making friends with someone different from you, and problem-solving from many treasured fables. Their culminating event was bringing the adventures to life with their annual “Fairy Tale Day.” Students and teachers dressed up as fairy tale characters and began the day with a red-carpet welcome at carpool. Dressed as Princess Aurora, K3 Teacher Alicia Wood remarked, “The fairytale dress-ups help our students grasp how resourcefulness and courage can overcome adversity…that is MAGICAL.”  Assistant Principal Jill Baker shared, “Having Fairy Tale Day is one of the many blessings of having “on-campus” learning.*  Nurturing children’s imaginations at an early age develop creativity, ingenuity, and thinking outside the box.  All of these are essential skills for life, especially in today’s world.”
