Choose PTC will reward patrons for spending at small businesses with more to spend at all local merchants.

The City of Peachtree Corners is creating a new way for businesses to help consumers keep money circulating within the community. Developed by the city, a new app called ChoosePTC gives local businesses a way to attract more customers, engage with consumers, and boost revenues while helping to support the community.

ChoosePTC is a free platform funded by the City of Peachtree Corners designed to reward residents and visitors with PTC Points for shopping at local businesses in Peachtree Corners.

Each local reward point equals $1, which can be easily redeemed at local businesses that choose to participate. Businesses that accept PTC points, called Redeeming Businesses, will be reimbursed directly by the city for the full value of the transaction.

Choose PTC is designed to empower community members to shop local and support hard-working small business owners and employees in their neighborhood and surrounding communities.

Through profiles and stories within the app, Choose PTC shines a spotlight on local businesses and gives them a way to attract more customers.

App users can discover the diversity of local businesses, get to know the owners’ stories, employees and services, and earn PTC Points, which can be redeemed later at select businesses around town.

Additional benefits:

  • Get rewarded for shopping local.
  • Discover local businesses around town.
  • Be in the know and find out what’s happening around the city.
  • Take an active part in supporting the local community.

Around this time last year, the City of Boston launched a similar program. Called B-Local, it was also done through a partnership with Colu Technologies.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they need our help to recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This dynamic program is a proven and powerful economic tool. By creatively leveraging federal CARES Act funding, the City of Boston can support local business owners, reward local shoppers and drive a stronger recovery,” said then-Boston Mayor Kim Janey.

Similarly, the city of Akron, Ohio, launched Colu’s “Akronite” app and generated over $200,000 in local business sales, harnessing more than 4,000 users and 170 local businesses in a six-month period. Money spent locally stayed in the community and boosted the economy by a factor of nine.

The “soft launch” is already underway and the official start is tentatively planned for May 2, according to Peachtree Corners spokesman Louis Svehla.

There are currently 13 businesses set up to redeem PTC points:

Beautifullea Salon
Zanshin Fitness
Beard Papa’s
Sunny Street Yoga
Manhattan NY Deli & Bagels
My Secret Garden
Hair By Yare
Gong Cha
Anderby Brewing
Traditional Shave Maters Barbershop
Peachy Corners Cafe
JR’s Loghouse
Silver Dollar Press

Since the PTC points can only be redeemed at merchants here, what’s earned in the city, stays in the city. Businesses that wish to join can find more information here.
