I tapped into a little bit of Michell Smelt’s knowledge about all things beer during my visit to Anderby Brewing. She’s the Owner, Operations Manager, and Director of Sales and Marketing of the new cat and dog-friendly brewery in town. Her husband, Preston, is the passionate Brewmaster. He can be found climbing large metal ladders in the Brew House, checking-in on his meticulously planned and prepared concoctions flavored with real, fresh fruits, and spices, dark chocolate cacao nibs, and coconut—not all in one beer of course—as they ferment in giant, shiny, silver fermenters.

Their beers were borne out of a home brewing hobby that organically grew into an exacting labor of love. They had just recently cored, peeled and chopped 27 pounds each of mangoes, and pineapples, and 2 pounds each of habanero and jalapeño peppers when I last spoke to Michell. There are no artificial flavors or powders in these fruity, spicy craft beers!

Preston talked to me about wanting to get into oak barrel aging some beer, to give it a unique quality that only the flavor left behind in containers from the spirits that once filled them could. This is a man on a mission to brew some pretty fantastic beers in Peachtree Corners.

Have Yourself a Hoppy Little Christmas

This rustic, industrial, modern space is wide open. Light pours in through large windows and the hard surface floors gleam.

The Event Space with floor-to-ceiling windows can hold 45-50 people comfortably, more if you host a reception-style event in which case some of the tables can be moved out. Your party can be completely self-contained and private if desired, by closing off the large, sliding barn doors. The space comes complete with a 19-tap bar and a restroom dedicated to your party guests. A flat-screen TV allows for presentations or slide shows to take place during your event.

Alternatively, the doors can remain ajar, and guests who reserve the Event Space are free to also roam into the Tap Room and mingle with other brewery “fans,” as the owners like to call them or spill out onto the patio if they wish.

“Throughout the space, we have flat-screen TVs… We have DJ ports so if you have a DJ coming to host your event you can have your music playing in the event space. The great thing is we have zones. We can play whatever we’re playing in the entire space, or we can shut off the zone to the event so you can play whatever music you want, or give a presentation. We can work with you on the audio/visual component,” pledged Smelt.

For sports fans, Smelt shared, “If you want to rent out the space for a football party or something like that, we have that 85-inch screen. We do have Sunday Ticket. My husband purchased the whole sports package. We get baseball, all the football games, and if it’s an Atlanta United game, we’ll have that on as well.”

The Tap Room can seat about 200 people. Large glass windows provide a clear view into the Brew House where you are likely to catch the master at work. I understand Preston can easily be persuaded into giving Tours because it’s clear that he truly loves what he does.

The Patio offers a cozy, outdoor spot facing Technology Parkway and a portion of the 1.5 mile, 5G-enabled test track—so there’s no telling what you’ll see driving by! You may not have had one too many, just in case you find yourself wondering, if you should suddenly see a driverless vehicle or drone zooming by on Curiosity Lab’s innovative Test Track!

The building capacity is 299 if one were interested in a total buyout for a private event.

How About a Holiday Party at Anderby Brewing?

It really is all about the “brewery experience” here. Anderby provides complimentary snacks like pretzels, peanuts, and trail mix. There is no kitchen facility so any food at your party would have to be catered from outside. They’re happy to give you suggestions if you need ideas, but you are free to work with whomever you choose for your party’s catering needs.

The options are endless, any kind of corporate or family party can take place at Anderby: stag parties, bridal showers, birthdays, holiday parties, each event is customized by your choice of caterer and décor.

Bringing in other alcohol is not really an option if you also want to have their beer. Smelt explained, “Because of the way the laws are written, you can’t bring in outside alcohol because we’d have to shut our taps down. I have had groups inquire about that. If you bring in outside alcohol, then the space is rented at a higher premium because we can’t sell our beer, so you’re just strictly renting the space.”

Book it!

Whether you’re curious about the 19 beers they have on tap at any given time, their beer-making process, or the super cool vibe of a large, industrial space for your holiday event, call Michell Smelt to discuss your vision and start planning your party. If you reserve this space, you have it for as long as you wish on that day, and they’re also OK with you coming in an hour early to set up for your party, even if that’s before they’re officially open.

Sunday: 12:30-7 p.m. or Thursday: 4-10 p.m.—$300
Friday:  4-10 p.m. or Saturday: 12-10 p.m.—$600

Booking the space outside of business hours is an option and they were also talking about expanding their hours by opening on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well.

For your bubbly Christmas event, call Owner, Michell Smelt at 770-559-7550.
