The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Margie Asef as the Chairman for 2021. The Chamber Board of Directors believes she best represents the ideals and values the Chamber aspires to promote and look forward to her leadership during these challenging times. The Chamber’s goals are to promote economic growth, support education, and to support the local community through providing a forum for business leaders, non-profit organizations, and educators to connect, and serve our community.
Chairman Weare Gratwick stated, “Under Margie’s leadership, the current Board and nominating committee are confident we can continue to grow and meet our commitments to the communities we serve.”
Margie Asef has enjoyed a variety of life experiences living in Ohio, Kentucky, California, and Georgia. She currently serves as the Community Relations Director forGreater Atlanta Christian School, managing public relations, facility rentals, sponsorships, internships, and large-scale events. She was selected to participate in Leadership Gwinnett in June and will be a member of the Class of 2022.
A life-long learner, Margie seeks to live out her faith, love her family and others, and travel as often as she can. She has a natural curiosity about people, places, and cultures which makes connecting in the community a true joy. Living in multiple states and traveling abroad has deepened her appreciation of various cultures and the world’s beauty.
Beth Coffey, Director of Sales and Membership Support, whose duties are to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, will continue in that role. The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber was formed in 2012 and serves the Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake communities. They look forward to another year of upward mobility and growth.

The Peachtree Corners Business Association (PCBA) celebrated the opening of Fifth Third Bank’s new branch in Peachtree Corners with a ribbon cutting on February 20.
Located at 3210 Holcomb Bridge Road, the new location features lobby and drive-thru hours, regular banking, investment services, loans and more.
“We are growing [and] proud to open up our new financial center at Peachtree Corners,” said Randy Koporc, EVP, regional president GA/AL Fifth Third Bank. “Congratulations to Financial Center Manager Jasmine Youngblood and her team, Retail Executive Dewayne King and all involved in getting us to this day.”

Savannah State University’s inaugural 40 Under 40 listrecognizes the achievements of young alumni
Cassidy Bass Jones, owner of LOL Burger Bar, was recently recognized as one of Savannah State University’s (SSU) inaugural 40 Under 40 award recipients.
The award recognizes the contributions of individuals who have excelled in their respective fields before the age of 40. This year’s recipients work in a wide array of environments from municipalities and universities to federal agencies and Fortune 500 companies.
The list includes company founders, executives, state representatives, doctors and lawyers.
“We’re overjoyed to share with the world what these young alumni have accomplished in just a few short years since graduating from this beloved institution,” said SSU Interim President Cynthia Alexander. “These alumni are the best and brightest and truly reflect the values we hope to instill in all SSU graduates.”
By highlighting the achievements of these alumni, SSU aims to inspire its current and future students to aspire to greatness and to emphasize the university’s role in shaping future leaders across various fields.
