Land Use Meeting to Reveal Plans for the Forum

The United Peachtree Corners Civic Association is hosting a town hall to give residents, stakeholders a first glimpse at what will become of large retail center.

The news in March that The Forum on Peachtree Parkway had new ownership intrigued residents and stakeholders in Peachtree Corners. Although the massive retail/commercial structure had seen better days, it is still a destination in the decade-old city that is currently experiencing massive growth.

As one of the most desired areas of metro Atlanta, North American Properties had added to its portfolio of successful high-end mixed-used developments. But inquiring minds have been speculating on what the future holds for what could become Peachtree Corners central business district.

The wait will soon be over.

A first glimpse at the plans will be available when the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association hosts a town hall land use meeting 7 to 9 p.m. May 18 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5575 Peachtree Parkway.

“At The Forum, we see an opportunity to breathe new life into an overlooked property that’s still relevant enough to remain beloved by the community. This project is a perfect example of the types of investments we’re looking to make as part of our overall value-add strategy,” said Tim Perry, NAP managing partner said shortly after the sale. “We actively seek the best, most under-appreciated and undervalued developments in prime locations that still have purpose in their communities but need some second-gen love. With each property, we aim to position or restore them as the crown jewels of their respective markets.”

NAP has been responsible for Avalon in Alpharetta, both Atlantic Station and Colony Square in Midtown, and Avenue East Cobb in Marietta. Representatives from NAP will be on hand at the town hall to discuss their vision for The Forum and take questions from residents.

“The city of Peachtree Corners was actually built out of the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association,” said UPCCA President Matt Lombardi. “Before Peachtree Corners was a city, UPCCA saw the need for the city and carefully worked to form it.”

Now UPCCA partners with the city on many endeavors to ensure residents are informed and to advocate for what’s best for the city and those who live and work there, Lombardi added.

“With this being a focal point for Peachtree Corners, it will get a lot of attention and it’s important to provide a platform for residents to give feedback on what’s planned,” said Lombardi.

He pointed out that as the years went by, the previous management wasn’t as aggressive about retaining tenants and hosting community events.

When it first came to Peachtree Corners, the Glow Run utilized The Forum as its beginning and ending point. But as years went by, management was frustrated that event-goers were taking up parking spaces.

“When I spoke to Tim Perry, one of the first things he mentioned was bringing back the Glow Run,” said Lombardi.

He added that’s perhaps a good sign that NAP wants to be a partner and not just a landlord.

There will be a team of representatives from North American Properties who will discuss the company’s vision for the shopping center. They will bring renderings of proposed developments to the property and design samples of other changes that may come.
